Blog Candy

In for a treat? Since my blog excists a year now ( I started it on July the 29th 2007!!) I thought it would be nice to celebrate the occasion. Since we went to Spain for a holiday last July 29th, I didn't have a chance to offer you this before. So, you have a chance on winning this Blog Candy but....there's a catch. The one with the most original quote on boys is the winner of this scrapcandy. I will pick a winner Sunday the 14th of September. Can't wait to read all your quotes. Zin in een cadeautje? Mijn blog bestaat inmiddels alweer een jaar (ben op 29 juli 2007 begonnen!) en het leek me leuk om dit een beetje te vieren. Aangezien we afgelopen 29 juli op vakantie gingen, kon ik dit niet eerder doen. Dus, als je een kans wilt maken op dit scrapperige pakketje laat dan een berichtje achter. Maar....er is wel één voorwaarde: degene met de meest originele qoute over jongens, is de winnaar van dit pakketje. Ik zal 14 september de winnares op mijn blog bekend maken. Ik kan haast niet wachten op jullie quotes. Maar, plaats alsjeblieft maar 1 quote per persoon.

I really, really HAVE to share this one with you!!

Like the title says, I really HAVE to share the site I found this morning with you....I found it in the tv guide and couldn't wait to try it out myself.
The pic you see was made last year and I really loved this one. But I'm such a computer dummie and do want to be able to photoshop so when I found this site, I had to give it a try. You can edit your pics anyway you want to, so....I'm exstatic about this. I was able to change my pic in a hand drawn one!! Isn't this great?

Zoals de titel al zegt, ik MOET dit echt even met jullie delen. Ik vond in de Troskompas de link naar deze site en kon niet wachten om het meteen uit te proberen. De foto die je ziet is afgelopen jaar gemaakt en ik vind hem zelf super gelukt. Maar aangezien ik een echte computerdummie ben en toch mijn foto's wil veranderen, moest ik het wel proberen. Je kan op deze site je foto's bewerken hoe je maar wilt, dus....Ik ben helemaal blij hiermee!! Het is me gelukt om deze foto te veranderen in een getekend portret!! Geweldig toch?

A quick word

Hi, a quick word from sunny Spain. We are having a very nice time here with lots of sun, sea and swimming. My mum and me are even trying to exercise once in a while....Next weekend we will be back in Holland so, maybe I can show you some pics then. See you all soon.

Hoi, even een snel berichtje vanuit het zonnige Spanje. Het is hier heerlijk, zonnig en veel zwemplezier. Mijn moeder en ik sporten zelfs af en toe, haha..Aankomend weekend zijn we weer terug en hopelijk kan ik dan wat foto´s laten zien. Tot dan, xxxWendy.

My son's layout and Sarah Kay card....

I promised to show you the layout my youngest made last friday....So, here it is. He used pics that were taken last april/may when we were in Italy with our friends. And he took some embellishments from my stash, this is what he came up with. I did help him with the tape and cutting the red cardstock around his pictures....Pretty good for an eight year old boy, don't you think?

Ik had beloofd de layout te laten zien die mijn jongste zoon afgelopen vrijdag gemaakt heeft, en dit is hem dan. Hij heeft foto's gebruikt van de vakantie in Italië afgelopen voorjaar. En wat spulletjes van mijn voorraad....Afgezien van het aanbrengen van de tape en het knippen van het rode cardstock als mat, heeft hij verder alles zelf gedaan. Toch knap van een 8-jarig jongetje, nietwaar?



Through Janny's blog I came across this fun Sarah Kay Challenge blog. I really love these stamps and couldn't resist but make a card according to this sketch.

Via Janny's blog kwam ik op het ontzettend leuke Sarah Kay challenge blog. Ik kon het niet laten om een kaartje te maken aan de hand van deze sketch.



For this card I used Making Memories papers Cheeky Emery flower and Emery red, also blue cardstock, flowers, a button, a hatpin and some rhinestones.

Voor deze kaart heb ik papier van Making Memories gebruikt, Cheeky Emery flower en Emery red, ook nog blauw cardstock, bloemen, een knoop, speld en wat rhinestones.

Quick post

Just a quick post, I'm having a scrapdate with my youngest son and he just can't wait to get started. So...this is my take on Kazans 4th sketch on the 2sketches4you site.
It's a card I made for our neighbours youngest son who got his second swimmingdiploma last wednesday.

Heel snel een berichtje, ik heb nl met mijn jongste afgesproken vanmiddag samen te gaan scrappen en hij vraagt steeds wanneer we nou gaan beginnen....Dus, dit is het kaartje dat ik gemaakt heb nav Kazans 4e sketch op het 2sketches4you blog. Het kaartje was voor ons buurjongetje van 6 die afgelopen zijn B-diploma heeft gehaald.



So, I'm off scrapping with my youngest son. I'm curious to what he will create...Enjoy your weekend and thanks for stopping by!

Shimmer brads tutorial and a card

Don't you just love those shimmer brads you can buy at the scrapbookstores? I love the glitter and glamour of it but often find them to be a bit too expensive and not always available in the colors I like so....I thought it would be fun to make my own. And I made a little tutorial and show you how it's done. I bought some simple and cheap golden brads you can find in your bookstore (at least, here in the Netherlands you can buy them there). Took different colors of nail polish and painted the brads in the colors I like.

Vinden jullie die "shimmer brads" ook niet leuk? Ik ben gek op de "glitter en glamour", dat beetje extra dat het je werk geeft maar vaak vind ik ze èn te duur èn niet altijd verkrijgbaar in de kleur die ik leuk vind. Dus leek het me leuk om ze gewoon zelf te maken. Ik heb bij de boekhandel een doosje goudkleurige splitpennen gekocht en ze met verschillende kleuren nagellak gelakt.









After the brads were dry, I used a little brush to cover them with stickles from Ranger. I used "Frosted Lace" for the ones below but ofcourse you can use any color you love.

Na het drogen heb ik een klein kwastje gebruikt om ze met stickles van Ranger te bedekken. Ik heb de kleur "Frosted Lace" gebruikt, maar je kunt natuurlijk iedere kleur die je zelf mooi vind erop doen.






And this is what you get in the end. You can also use any color of paint but I like the shine the nail polish gives the brads, so that's why I used nail polish.

En dit is dan het eindresultaat. Je kunt natuurlijk ook verf gebruiken voor de brads maar ik vind de glans die nagellak eraan geeft mooier, dus heb ik nagellak gebruikt.






I also made this cute card. When I started out, I didn't like it at all and wanted to throw the card out. But my mom gave me some ideas so I finished the card anyway and I'm actually pleased with the result. So thanks for helping mom!!

Ik heb ook nog dit kaartje gemaakt. Toen ik eraan begon vond ik het eigenlijk niets worden en wilde het al weggooien. Maar mijn moeder gaf me wat tips en daarmee heb ik het kaartje toch afgemaakt en ik vind hem eigenlijk toch wel erg leuk geworden. Dus bedankt Ma!!



Well, think it's enough for you to read at the beginning of this new week. Just two weeks more of school and summer holiday will start over here...just can't wait!!

Denk wel dat het genoeg te lezen is in het begin van deze nieuwe week. Nog twee weekjes naar school en dan begint hier ook de zomervakantie. Kan haast niet wachten!!
